The Athabasca Watershed Council (AWC) is a registered charity and non-profit organization dedicated to fostering collaboration and informed decision-making for the Athabasca River watershed. Since its formation in 2009, AWC has brought together stakeholders—including government, industry, Indigenous communities, environmental groups, and citizens—to provide credible, timely information and promote sustainable watershed management.
The Athabasca Watershed Council (AWC) aimed to revamp its website to create a more engaging and user-friendly experience across all devices. The existing site was difficult to navigate, making it challenging for users to access relevant information. The project focused on improving the site’s structure, enhancing usability, and integrating e-commerce capabilities. The result was a more intuitive and inviting platform that effectively showcased AWC’s projects and vision while providing a seamless experience for visitors looking to learn more or make a purchase.
The project aimed to establish a more intuitive domain and updated email infrastructure for consistency. Additionally, it focused on refining the AWC website to align with its strategic vision, creating a user-friendly experience that educates and engages the public about the Athabasca Watershed.
The new Athabasca Watershed Council website is designed to build awareness, grow membership, and strengthen the watershed community. To achieve this, the site features a visually engaging blend of illustrative elements, graphical icons, and dynamic photography, creating a compelling and immersive user experience. The homepage highlights key sections, making it easy for visitors to explore the watershed’s impact and become members. On subpages, reports and documents have been reorganized within a refreshed, user-friendly interface, ensuring seamless access to essential resources. This redesign successfully addresses previous challenges, enhances usability, and elevates the organization’s digital presence, providing a more effective platform to engage and inform the watershed community.
The revamped AWC website is now a more intuitive and user-friendly experience, making it easier for visitors to navigate and engage with content. With improved organization, a refined structure, and seamless functionality across devices, users could quickly access relevant information about the Athabasca Watershed. The integration of new features, including an updated domain and email infrastructure, further enhanced the site’s accessibility and professionalism. Overall, the project resulted in a modern, engaging, and informative digital presence that effectively supports AWC’s mission of public education and stakeholder collaboration.
