Encouraging Wonder. Nurturing Greatness.
Branding & Web Design
Wild Heart Children's Centre (formerly Southside Mothers' Day Out SSMDO) is a non-profit childcare facility providing a full-day alternative to traditional preschool programs. Children between the ages of 1 - 5 years, and in Kindergarten are invited to participate in their enriching, learn through play environment.
The organization had evolved over the past few years and needed a new brand identity to represent the organization and who they were today, leading them into the future.
They wanted a brand they could be proud of.
Our first task was to come up with a name to replace Southside Mother's Day Out. The organization started in 1976 with a group of mom's who were swapping care in order to give each other time back. They felt the name had to go, it wasn't who they grew to today. Kids have an innocence that allows them to see life through a unique lens and makes them want to explore everything life has to offer. Wild Heart Children's Centre speaks to both the free spirit children have, as well as the nurturing environment the Centre offers that encourages kids to embrace who they are. From the name, we began crafting a brand language using a voice and tone that really hit home with the Centre.
Three stylescapes (elevated moodboards) were developed around the chosen name, and three key brand attributes: imaginative, natural, uncomplicated. The stylescape chosen helped set the tone and vibe for the logo, collateral, as well as help guide further brand language.
After a stylescape was chosen, we then focused on creating a logo that told the story behind the name. In the chosen logo, the Wild Heart focuses on nature as a key sense of play. In the design, we combined a simple leaf and a heart.
Some fresh and fun collateral pieces were designed, which really showcased their new brand.
We created a website carrying over the nature components from the brand, which is also much easier to navigate and find information. Check out the new site!
